The Writer and the Large Window
Do you know that a window is associated with a writer - especially a large window? Well, every time a writer goes to task – writing that is – they will look outside through the window when they get stuck… looking out at the snow falling down and marveling at the beauty of the winter season (right now since winter is still here).
For those who don’t know how writer’s work, they often comment they don’t see them working. But actually, looking outside the window is part of the writing process. Usually, the mind gets clear after you turn your head from the monitor and look outside and eventually the inspiration or ideas start to return. When you’re done looking through the window, you can continue with your writing. Sometimes though, no matter how long you look outside, the inspiration never comes back. But you are still waiting.
Me? I don’t look outside through the window when I’m stuck in my writing. I don’t do dishes either. I gawk! Yes, on the innernets…I browse until the guilt has built up that I have to stop. My favorite place is the You Tube site – where people put-up their videos about their pets. And my favorite entertainment is animals – especially cats.

Every writer has their own style of accomplishing their writing. It doesn’t matter how many pages you’re able to write every day - as long as you write consistently. So if looking outside the window is a way for you to get back into the writing – keep doing it. As for me, watching animals doing their antics helps to clear my minds and without knowing it, it creeps into my writing as well.
