5 tips how find out who your target audience are for your blog
When you just started to write for your blog, did you ever think about the audience or online visitors reading your blog?

For those who’ve already been blogging for quite a while, maybe they eventually figured out who are their visitors through the statistics on their blog or through the list of subscribers.
Why is it important to know my audience you may ask? I think by knowing who are your readers, you can become better prepared to write the best content. So, for those who just started to blog, like me, here are five tips to find-out or predict your audience.
1. Be the reader of your own blog
When I first started blogging, I became interested to write about how I started to write again. I gathered a lot of information about writing – the inspiration and motivation from the internet as well as from books I read. Since I am also working in my handmade purses and accessories business, I can view this content from a business perspective. As in any business, you have to be the number one buyer of your own products. I see the content of my blog as my product. I must be the number one audience for my own writing. If I don’t like what I read - how can I expect others to want to read it as well? So far, I like what I am writing and there is so much space for improvements. Whenever I am looking for a piece of advice or motivation to write, I can always read my own blog.
2. Imagine your audience
According the Patricia T. O’Conner in “Words Fail Me”, know in advance who your readers are. This helps you to write with ease. Her advice is to draw a mental picture of your reader and carry it with you as you write. She also asked you to put yourself in the reader’s place and write what you’d like to read.
3. Develop a theme for your writing
If your writing is about fashion in general, you will almost be sure your audience includes fashion students, those who involved in apparel industry or a stay at home mom who wants to know what the latest trends are for this season. You can divide your writing into many categories from shoes, women’s accessories and many more. As my blog developed, I plan to have several themes I am interested to write. One of them is how to start your own business. I am also will get into sewing as one of themes in the future for my blog.
4. Advertise your blog
Another way to get your target audience for your blog is to advertise your blog URL (Uniform Resource Locater) as soon as possible. You can add your blog URL in your email, business card and on your site if you have one. Other than submitting your blog URL to the search engines as well as blog search engines, a word of mouth type of advertisement is also helpful to find your audience for your blog.
5. Write an article to ezine or magazine
Submit an article to an online magazine and list your blog website for the readers to find more info about what your current projects that related to your article. This is one of the best alternatives to help your audience finds you. There are many ezines you can get your article in. One of them is ezinearticles.com.
I am doing all four of the list above but the fifth. I am honing my writing skills and working on an article I can submit to the ezine as well as to my favorite magazines. Blogging with high quality contents takes time and becomes a priority. I believe if you offer high quality and timeless content, you help your audience to find your blog.
