So, have you decided to write a novel, a short story or an article? Now all you need is the right attitude and inner motivation to begin writing. You also have your editorial calendar and plan to write every day before you. Is there any more you can do to motivate you to complete your writing task?

What about your best friends? Or people who are closest to you? What about the writer’s community in your town or online? Here are six tips to locate and get cheerleaders to motivate you to write everyday.

    1. Tell your best friends you are planning to write that short story you have been thinking about for a long time. Your best friends are your perfect cheerleaders. Ask them to remind you about your writing task and to make sure you write each day or according to your editorial calendar.

    2. Tell your family or someone in your family you are closest with. Tell her or him you are writing your novel. Ask them to remind you that you need to get back to your writing whenever you feel you are lagging behind.

    3. Tell your boyfriend or girlfriend about your writing endeavor. Ask him or her to remind you to complete your writing on time.

    4. Join a writing group in your town. Attend each meeting and share your writing with them.

    5. Join a writer’s community online. Participate in a forum to help motivate each other to write every day.

    6. Write in your blog every day. If you don’t have a blog, start one. You need to write since you are already committed to your online readers that you will write as promised.

Writing is a lonely process. However, don’t let this loneliness push you from interacting with others. You need external referees or cheerleaders to help you to accomplish your writing. My husband is my number one cheerleader in my effort to return to my writing. Since I am just starting to write again, I am in a process to gather all the cheerleaders I have mentioned above to motivate me to write every day.

My blog is also the reason I am able to write every day. It is like a contract between me and my blog. At this stage I am yet to market my blog publicly, but I will slowly build the content to be timeless so when I am finally being found online, the content I wrote a long time ago would still applicable today.

So what are you waiting for? Go get your cheerleaders! They are more than happy to cheer and remind you to write everyday. You’ll be glad you asked them.
