Building Links for my blog

I’ve been reading blogs for quite some time now and I’m always attracted to a blog that has a simple writing style. I mean simple because it is straightforward and right to the point. I prefer those pages that have very little or no advertising on them.

The interesting part out about my habit of reading bogs is none of the topics I’ve read about is related to my handmade bags and accessories business. Instead, these topics are more about writing, finance and investment - and business in general. I do subscribe to retail industry (where my business is categorized) newsletters and magazines but that’s about it. I also avoid blogs that heavily promote their widgets or are heavily into marketing.

After all the reading I’ve done, I thought why don’t I start my own blog? It would be fun. However, I couldn’t find the reason to do so. It was almost a year and I was still unable to find a good enough reason until I got the rash to write again.

For many years, I pushed my writing interest onto the back burner and now I am back! I think part of the reason I am now able to write again (other that my first attempt to write an instructions on how to make a walker bag) is due to my intensive reading of die hard bloggers who are really serious about blogging and making money while doing it. So, here is the list of my favorite bloggers and websites:

Financial Security

1.Dave Ramsey Financial Advice

Dave is a financial guru to make you want to save like yesterday.

2. My Money Blog

This blog is about financial security and I enjoyed reading his journey to reach his financial freedom. The writing is direct to the point and less marketing.

3. The Simple Dollar

This is another blog about saving and investing for the future. The page has much less advertising, which I appreciate, and his topics are timeless.

4. Boston Gal’s Open Wallet

I also like to read this blog by a financial savvy woman who spends less and saves more.

Business

1. Business Writing

I just found this blog this month and I like it since the topic is part of my interest in writing now. There are many valuable lessons found in this blog.

2. Entrepreneur’s Journey

I like the content of this blog even though it is very long. I can relate to what he wrote since I experienced the same ups and down as an entrepreneur starting my own handmade bags and accessories business and growing it.

3. Small Biz Trends

This blog is about small business and marketing. The articles are sometimes helpful but I am more interested with the links on this site than its content. Also, there is way too much marketing jargon in this blog for my liking.

4. Problogger.net

This blog is about helping other bloggers to be successful in blogging.

Scripting

1. A List Apart

This is one of my favorite sites about designing a successful website using css. I learn a lot of the how to design a web site with the visitor in mind.

2. Wordpress.org

Currently I am using Wordpress.org for my blog.

Fashion Design

1. Fashion Incubator

This blog is a window to fashion design and designer world.

Writing

1. Writer’s Digest

Their blog is chock full of information about writing well. They are one of my favorite writing blogs.

2. Writer’s Market
A fee-based service which offers significant amounts of information on hundreds of literary agents in all genres. I have their hard copy of the Writer’s Market.

The list will only grow in a matter of time. I will keep on updating my Blogroll when I find sites I like. You can visit each site which listed on the right side menu under “links” category.
