Be the Trendsetter

This blog is a place to experiment with my writing. I am going to write about getting back into creative writing, tips, ideas, book reviews, starting and growing a business and many more. If you are in similar stage like me we can do it together. You can use this blog as a motivation or inspiration to start your writing and to write consistently. I will document my experience about how I get back to writing, the process, challenges and the rewards along the way. So, stay tuned!

Why the name the trendsetter you may ask. To me, the trendsetter means moving forward with confidence. I feel I’m ahead of everybody else if I’m able to write and grow my handmade bags and accessories business at the same time. I hope that I am able to motivate you, the reader as well to be the trendsetter in your field of writing.

The background

About a year ago, I had been searching for a name for my blog. I like a name that is associated with something positive yet generic sounding enough to cover all the writing categories. I had been looking at a lot of names, but the trendsetter always emerged on the short list like a sore thumb. It is too bad the name is already taken, but I was able to settle with the dot-org extension for the domain name. However, words don’t come easy for me to start blogging right away at that time. I needed time to find out exactly what I wanted to write so I can continue to write without running out of ideas after a month of starting my blog. Eventually this late Summer I am able to convince myself to get back to writing again. Phew! What a big relief to finally be able to just do it!

So, if any of you out there who wanting to blog but have a hard time starting it, my advice is to just do it! Otherwise, it will nag you up to the point where you feel something is missing and unfulfilling in your life.

Here is what you need to do to start your own blog:

1. Find the domain name for your blog. You can register it and find a reliable web hosting.

If you want to get your own name for your blog, make it as general as possible or think what ideas you want to cover in your blog now and in the future. Most bloggers us their own name for the domain name.

2. Use wordpress.org blog software or others.

After your get your domain name and web hosting service you can upload the blogging software into your web host. Sometime the web host will provide a Fantastico tool on your Cpanel and you can easily download it for free. I am using Wordpress.org template for the blog software and BlueHost for my web host.

3. You can also park your blog free at other blog software sites e.g. blogspot.com.

A lot of bloggers use this way because the domain name they chose are already taken or they don’t want to be known to the public due to the content they want to write. In the long run you probably would like to have a domain name for your blog especially if you want to build credibility and be an expert in your field.

4. Start blogging!

Welcome to blogsphere and happy blogging!
